So Ik Banere is done. where to next? It’s simple. The completely opposite direction.
I had the absolute honour of working with the Yin&Yang family to help them to create Y&Y 30 Seconds. This is a small series of videos that showcases the different members of Y&Y. Giving the audience a glimpse of what makes these creative minds tick.
Check out the first episode:
Y&Y is an amazing website full of the latest news about fashion, music, art and life. I’ve been a fan for a long time now and when I was given the opportunity to work with them, I didn’t hesitate. They are an amazing and inspiring group of individuals. Each has their own quirkiness tied together with the passion and love of what they do.
Make sure you check out the Yin&Yang website here! Trust me when I say you will be going back for more. Special shout out to Niran aka Yin for getting me involved and allowing me to shoot these. His vision is incredible. His photos are even more. Mad love to the whole family!
“Ik Banere” (“A Rooftop”) is Tigerstyle’s latest single from the forthcoming new album titled “Digi-Bhang”. Tigerstyle’s new material showcases the unique direction they are taking, by making use of electronic and synthetic sounds but always fusing with Bhangra, international elements and plenty of BASS!! Their previous release “Kudi” topped all Bhangra charts across the world and even found its place on playlists with no other Bhangra in sight! “Ik Banere” is an uplifting soulful summer anthem in the making. Innocent Bollywood-esque vocals by newcomer Ms Rajni, laid over a kaleidoscope of melody and tablatronic Drum n Bass.
This release has a unique twist. Tigerstyle collaborate with Ink’quisitive and MadTatter to create a music video which depicts illustrator Amandeep Singh being inspired by the track and unleashing his talent onto canvas. Ink’quisitive produces art which engages in breaking rules. With a name such as ‘Inkquisitive’ the means of this simply lies in his heavy usage of Indian inks and allowing the Art to pose many questions. By believing imperfection is beauty, Amandeep has been able to establish his work in a very unique, innovative and eye catching way. With strong use of colour and eccentric methodology on spilling ink, it has raised its dramatic awareness.
So I guess the cats out of the bag.. Why do they use that analogy :S
Yes It’s true I have shot and edited the next music video for the beasts known as Tigerstyle. I have to have a big shout out to my bro Inkquisitive Illustration for getting me involved. Also a massive thank you to Tigerstyle themselves for having the confidence in me to do a good job for them.
The track is amazing completely different sound. It’s truly amazing. I had to really step my game up for this video. But trust me when I say that this collab is pure madness.
The single is out 24th May
Check out the cover art for the single and the promo.
Greetings. Usually my blogs are happy-go-lucky and are filled with super awesome people who I feel the need to help promote as I like to push creativity. But this blog is much like this day. A bit grey. I’m not one for naming and shaming or slating what others do because to be honest I try not to worry myself with what others do. Especially if it is a negative thing. But recently I’ve been seeing some stuff that frankly I find quite hard not to be irritated by.
As the title suggests it’s about people who do something because they want a quick buck. Or even they think they can do it because they have enough money to buy up all the best equipment. This saturates the sector so that you have a lot of shit. It becomes hard to find the people and work that is actually good. Or sometimes things get to the point where everything is good and its hard to find that something special.
Take for example photographers. I’m not hating on them I have many friends who are photographers both amateur and pro. But just because you have a DSLR it does NOT make you anything special. It takes skill, an eye and knowledge to be able to seriously stand out from a crowd. And just because you’re a photoshop expert again doesn’t make you something special. By all means delve into different areas of photography but learn. Don’t take standard boring photos throw them into photoshop make them all nice and shiny and then show them to the world. The greatest minds in the world didn’t get noticed because they’re shit was perfect, it was the imperfections that gave them the edge.
It’s the same with films. I feel like there is no creativity with some people. The worst thing is their audience accepts it! Why? If something is standard and boring but oh wait the background is blurred, that makes it professional? Fuck off. Did the photographer think about the rule of thirds? Is there a story trying to be portrayed within the image? Is the shit even interesting to look at? Most of these would be no but STILL people are paying for such images.
What really annoys me is when someone just out right steals a style of another photographer. Take for instance black and white photography. When I desaturate my images I go through a process of thinking about what contrast I am after as well as if I want to add a quick vignette to create more drama. I try and make that specific black and white photo mine. My style, story and creativity. Not just throw into Lightroom click a preset and shazam.. OK I will admit I have done that. But from that I learnt to give my images something unique.
I could ramble on but I wont. This applies to pretty much everything. Photography, films, dance, music. Most creative things. It’s just annoying to see people who have such a unique style not be pushed as much as they should. In my eyes they deserve to be at the top of the ladder simply because they have learnt their craft…
While you’re busy concentrating on looking for stars and planets…you’re missing the beautiful full moon that is lighting up the night sky…
